As I sat down to write my bio, one thing came to mind — Of the thousands of people who have walked, limped, or hobbled into my office, not one has ever started the relationship by asking, “Hey doc, where did you go to school?” The first thing they want to know is how I can help relieve their pain. So let me begin there.
I start with your medical history covering the gamut of physical injuries, chronic conditions, and prior surgeries that might have a bearing on your current problem. I watch you walk, analyze your gait, and do a complete orthopedic and neurological exam.
And I ask a lot of questions. What hurts? When did it start? When does it flare up? What diagnostic tests have you done so far? The more I know, the more I can help.
I began my career in health care with a nursing degree from Lehman College in 1980. Two years later I herniated two discs, and I was in excruciating pain. The doctors wanted to operate. I turned to my cousin, a chiropractor. I come from a medical family, but I had never had a treatment from him before. Within days the pain in my back was gone, along with my headaches, menstrual pain, and other physical issues.
I was a changed person with a new outlook on pain management. Four years later I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
Since then I have become a fellow of the International Academy of Clinical Acupuncture, taught at universities, made numerous appearance on national TV, written a book on physical fitness, and opened the first holistic multidisciplinary chiropractic center in New York City.
Over the years I’ve worked with Olympic athletes, Broadway stars, and world-
renowned ballet dancers. I’ve also worked with weekend duffers, accident victims, and people who just spend too many hours hunched over their computers. Every patient I treat is different from the rest. But my goal is always the same — to put you on the road to complete recovery from the first day we meet.
